In Lieu of an Actual Post Today

A Conundrum: Why is it that I can hear my children wherever they are in my house, especially if, say, they are plotting something naughty and I am half-undressed, and yet they cannot hear me when I shout to them (in a loving, sweet, motherly voice of course) to stop?

I’m sure it must have something to do with the space-time continuum and the way sound waves travel, because I’m sure my children would never ignore me. Never.

  1. We have the same thing happen here. Your mother can be down cellar and I can hear every move she makes, but she can’t hear me call to her, even if I scream at the top of my lungs. OK. Slight exaggeration.

OK again. Maybe I don’t always hear her, either.
