In Which We Go to the Orchard

I have a bunch of orchard pictures to share with you, but first Little One would like to announce the winner of the Beanie giveaway, chosen by

And the winner is . . .

Sharone from Zizzivivizz!!!

Sharone, email me at erin dot togetherforgood at gmail dot com with your address. 🙂

And now, many pictures from our trip to the orchard yesterday. We were almost rained out; in fact, it drizzled most of the way there, which made me grumpy. And it was muddy and cold and the kids were pretty much naughty and the apples were expensive . . .

But I got some awesome pictures, so we can just pretend it was a beautifully perfect day.

Poor Bubba’s two front teeth haven’t grown in enough yet, so he has to bite into his apples with his side teeth.

You would not believe how hard it was to get this picture. Bubs was not wanting to cooperate. But I won, so you get to see his dirty boy fingernails up close and personal. 🙂

It was cold. See him clutching his apple in there? LOL

I have to thank my friend Mindy for her photoshop help on this one. There used to be a big disembodied hand in it. I am not best pals with the clone stamp, so Mindy helped me out. Isn’t Little One a cutie?? She liked the orchard, except the part where she had to be in her stroller.

I love these pictures of the boys.

Yeah. I’m pretty sure that’s what happy with a chance of naughty looks like.

This is Little One posing for a picture in one of the wagons at the orchard. Isn’t she a doll baby?

And another in black and white:

It wasn’t the perfect crisp sunshiny day at the orchard. The kids weren’t sweet and angelic and ever-so-helpful in finding windfall apples to use for applesauce. By the time we were done, I was hungry, cold, damp, and cranky.

But I guess it’s the not-so-perfect family experiences that make you appreciate the perfect ones all the more.picking apples copy

We’re not together for perfection.

We’re together for good.

  1. Those are some gorgeous pictures! Even if it was a so-so outing, at least you have fabulous pictures to remember it by. Love that last line about not being together for perfection. Very clever. 🙂

  2. My niece has gorgeous eyes! Beautiful! 🙂 Love that picture of Sam with his hands in his pockets and well…I guess I love all the pics in this entry! I miss you guys! Give them squishy hug for me!

  3. Love her little hat! Where is it from? And her jacket?

LOVE these photos (though you always have the best photos) 🙂 Do you have tricks for “enhancing” her blue eyes?

  4. adorable pix.

and your last sentence made me smile “we’re not together for perfection, we’re together for good.”

that sentence says a lot to me. just as God created the world, and so on (Genesis) and saw that “it was good.” i want him to look at our family, and see that is good.

  5. Oh this so cheered me up! The pictures are amazing, and the words are perfect.
    Okay, good.
I can honestly say that if it wasn’t for the photos where we all look like we’re having a great time, there would be some outings we’d rather not talk about.

  6. I won!!!! I never win anything! I know everyone that ever wins anything says that, but I really mean it. 🙂 I’ll email you my address today.

I tried to leave a comment last night, but it wouldn’t let me, for some reason. But I’d just like to say…it LOOKS like you guys had a fabulous time at the orchard, which is obviously a testament to your photography skills and the sheer darlingness of your offspring. 🙂 You’re right – even the not-perfect things can still be good. 🙂

P.S. I really, really, really want apples right now.

  7. oh, forgot to say, that if it had been a bright sunshiney day, you’re photos probably wouldn’t have come out as well as they did! Overcast days are PERFECT for pictures… so see… you got some perfect after all!! 🙂

  8. i love that… not together for perfect 🙂 and i love those hands on the apples… dirty fingernails and all 🙂 how i wish there was an apple picking place within 200 miles…
